A Bit About Me
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cindy, and I have been a proud resident of New Jersey for my entire life. When it comes to my favorite things, nothing compares to the love I have for my husband and our adorable pups, Peanut and Reeses. Let’s not forget about my daily indulgence—a piece of dark chocolate is an absolute must for me
The summer months are the perfect time to give your living room a fresh and vibrant look. Today, we’ll be sharing some great ideas to transform your space into a summer oasis without breaking the bank. Now, let’s dive into our favorite summer decorating tips!
1. Natural Elements
Bring the beauty of the outdoors inside on your coffee table or dining room table by using baskets filled with fresh flowers as a simple summer centerpiece. It’s an easy way to add a pop of color and infuse your space with summer vibes. You can find affordable baskets at your local grocery store or even repurpose ones you already have in your home.
2. An Outdoor Retreat
Don’t forget about your outdoor spaces! Make your summer front porch or patio a welcoming retreat with string lights, colorful throw pillows, and planters filled with fresh flowers from the garden center. It’s a great way to extend your living space and enjoy the warm weather al fresco.
3. Embrace Lighter Colors
For a fresh and airy summer look, swap out your darker decor items for lighter colors to create a fresh and airy summer look. Consider using bright whites and pastels. These lighter colors will reflect natural light and give your space a summery feel.
4. Add A Pop Of Color
Incorporate pops of colors throughout your home for fun summer vibes. Place colorful accent pillows on your sofas and chair to celebrate the summer season.
5. Create a Simple Summer Centerpiece
Place a white ginger jar filled with faux florals or cut flowers for a summer centerpiece on your dining table or entry table. It adds a touch of elegance and a fresh look to your space. You can even switch it up with different flowers and arrangements throughout the summer months.
6. Infuse Greenery Or Plants Everywhere
Add lots of greenery and plants to your space for a natural and refreshing touch. Incorporate faux summer flowers or real potted plants in every room, from your family room to your home office. Not only do they bring life to your decor, but they also improve air quality and create a calming atmosphere.
7. Incorporate Summer-Themed Accessories
Bring the vacation vibes home by incorporating summer-themed accessories. Hang string lights or lanterns to create a playful and festive atmosphere. Display seashells or beach-inspired decor on side tables or shelves. These small touches can instantly transport you to your favorite summer destinations.
8. Keep It Simple and Personal
Remember, summer decorating is all about embracing a relaxed and carefree atmosphere. Don’t overthink it—have fun and experiment with your style. Mix and match your favorite summer decorations and showcase your best finds from flea markets or last year’s summer decor. It’s the perfect time to let your creativity shine.
9. Enjoy the Process
Most importantly, have a great time decorating your space for the summer season. Whether you’re adding a new duvet cover, rearranging furniture, or simply incorporating a few summer accents.
Why Add Natural Elements To The Home?
Adding natural elements when decorating serves several important purposes.
First and foremost, natural elements bring a sense of connection to the outdoors, creating a harmonious and balanced environment. They remind us of the beauty and serenity of nature, helping to create a calming and peaceful atmosphere within our living spaces.
Secondly, natural elements add texture and visual interest to our decor. Whether it’s the vibrant colors of flowers, the rich grains of wood, or the lush greenery of plants, these elements introduce depth and variety, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of our surroundings.
Natural elements often have unique textures, scents, and sounds that can engage our senses and create a multisensory experience. The softness of natural fabrics, the earthy scent of flowers or essential oils, and the gentle rustling of leaves can all contribute to a more immersive and enjoyable living environment.
Incorporating natural elements into our decor brings a sense of harmony, beauty, and well-being to our living spaces. By celebrating the wonders of nature, we create a more authentic and nurturing environment that supports our connection to the natural world and enhances our overall quality of life.
Our Foyer For The Summer Months
Foyer For Warmer Weather
As we step into the foyer of our summer home, one of the highlights is undoubtedly the abundance of faux lavender plants. While we may not have the opportunity to grow real lavender in our garden, these faux plants bring a touch of nature with their beautiful purple color. Nestled in a charming crate from France, this piece adds a rustic and inviting element to the space. I love how it allows me to switch things up for different seasons, keeping the decor fresh and exciting.
One of my favorite DIY projects in this space is the addition of vintage flowerpots and berry baskets. One of my favorite things about these summer berry baskets is they’re stained naturally.
Using a simple technique to give clay pots an aged appearance, they resemble the vintage pots you might stumble upon while visiting flea markets and thrift stores. It’s a satisfying and creative endeavor that adds character and a touch of nostalgia to the foyer.
More Summer Decorating
The mirror hanging above our soft blue entry table is a delightful and easy way to create your antique mirror. The technique I used requires no harsh chemicals and is accessible for anyone to achieve in their own home. It’s a fun way to incorporate a vintage feel and adds depth and visual interest to the space.
Lastly, no entryway would be complete without an elegant glass cloche and a satin ribbon. This cloche creates a captivating display of small treasures. To keep it simple for summer it’s empty with a satin ribbon that adds a touch of femininity.
In the foyer of our summer home, these elements come together to create an inviting and welcoming atmosphere.
So, let’s continue our tour and discover more of the beauty and inspiration that awaits in every corner of our summer home!
Why Update Table Settings?
Updating table settings is essential for several reasons:
- Refreshing the Look: By updating your table settings, you give your summer dining area a fresh and rejuvenated look. Over time, decor can become dull or outdated. Updating table settings helps breathe new life into the space, making it more visually appealing and inviting.
- Reflecting the Season: Table settings provide an opportunity to reflect on the current season. Each season brings its unique colors, textures, and themes that can be incorporated into your table decor. Updating the table settings allows you to embrace the spirit of the summer season and create a cohesive look.
- Enhancing Dining Experience: A beautifully set table enhances the overall dining experience. It creates a sense of anticipation and elevates the enjoyment of the meal. When the table is thoughtfully decorated, it adds a touch of elegance and sophistication, making summer dining occasions more special and memorable.
Update Table Setting
- Attention to Detail: For your summer table pay attention to the details of your table settings demonstrating your care and consideration for guests. It shows that you have taken the time to create a visually appealing and well-thought-out dining experience. Attention to detail enhances the overall impression and makes your guests feel valued and appreciated.
- Fresh Flowers as a Focal Point: Add a touch of natural beauty to your dining table by incorporating fresh flowers as a simple summer centerpiece. Pick up a bouquet from your local grocery store or gather flowers from your home garden. It’s the easiest way to bring color and freshness to your summer table.
In summary, updating table settings is important for refreshing the look of your dining area. It should reflect the summer season or occasion, setting the desired mood. By regularly updating your table settings, you create a welcoming and visually captivating space for memorable meals and gatherings.

Simple White Chamomile Centerpiece
For our summer centerpiece, we decided to keep things simple yet charming. We used faux chamomile flowers, which add a whimsical and carefree vibe, in a rustic basket. The addition of the basket not only adds visual interest but also introduces texture to the arrangement. It’s a wonderful way to bring a touch of summer to your dining table without overwhelming the space.
To further enhance the summer ambiance in the dining area, we incorporated moss topiaries. These delightful green accents are a must-have for the summer months and are easy to make. By introducing abundant greenery, you can effortlessly achieve an instant summer look that brightens up your dining space.

Whether it’s the combination of fresh lilac flowers and faux eucalyptus in late spring or the simplicity of faux chamomile flowers in a textured basket for summer, these arrangements are a perfect way to capture the season. They bring the outdoors inside, to your dining area with a refreshing feel of summer.
Add Wreaths For Summer
Wreaths: To further enhance the summer ambiance in your home, consider adding wreaths adorned with greenery, lemons or green moss, and fragrant lavender. These charming wreaths bring a touch of nature indoors, infusing your living space with the beauty and serenity of the season.
Add American Flags
White flowers provide the perfect canvas for creating an effortless centerpiece that captures the essence of summer. To add a patriotic touch, consider incorporating American Flags into the arrangement. This simple addition works particularly well for summer celebrations like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
Mixing And Matching Dishes
Mix and Match Patterns and Texture
Have fun by mixing and matching different patterns and textures for your tableware and accessories. Combining vibrant colors or playful patterns creates a visually dynamic and exciting summer table setting.
Incorporating different dishes and patterns it makes your summer table settings even more vibrant. This adds a playful element to your table decor, making it colorful. I adore using Majolica plates passed down through generations of my family. These cherished heirlooms bring a sentimental touch of history and tradition.
Another charming addition to my table setting is the collection of tea cups passed down from both of my grandmothers. These delicate cups tie in with the use of florals and other items we already own, requiring no extra cost. By shopping our own homes, we can find hidden treasures that perfectly complement the summer theme and for a meaningful table.
In terms of seasonal accessories, this spring, mushrooms took center stage in home decorating. So, I’ve created an easy recipe for chocolate mushrooms that serves as the perfect summer accessory. This simple and delicious dessert is easy to make. You can make it to add to your summer table. So, look for the details coming very soon. It’s a great idea to incorporate for summer gatherings and satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.
So use your creativity, mix and match different dishes and patterns, incorporate sentimental pieces, and experiment with seasonal accessories. You’ll create a meaningful summer table setting that is setting the stage for cherished memories.
