Hello everyone, today I’m sharing our Christmas great room tour. The great room can be seen from many places in our home and it’s fun to decorate for the different seasons.
Today also is our Christmas Home Tour featuring six bloggers homes. The tour is being cohosted by me, Cindy from Cloches & Lavender and Terrie from Decorate & More with Tip.
If you’re coming from Emily’s at Le Cultivateur welcome and I hope you enjoyed her tour, her home is always beautiful.
At the bottom of our posts will be links to the other homes being featured today. Please take the time to visit these talented ladies and see their homes.
Usually, when decorating our great room the places I begin are the mantel, bookcase and our buffet. Changing these year to year is a great way to keeps things fresh. For the most part, I don’t buy new pieces.
Christmas Buffet with Greens
Christmas Sidetable with a Jardineire Filled with Greens and Citrus
I recently shared my updated deer for our Thrift Store Challenge. I think you will enjoy the post and may learn a new paint technique.
The holiday buffet with my antique Jardinière is filled with greens and dehydrated clementine and adds a natural touch. You can read about dehydrating fruit in this post.
Birch logs were added for texture and can be found at Hobby Lobby or most garden centers this time of year.
Here at Cloches & Lavender I love crowns and often tuck them into vignettes here and there.

The gilded and natural walnuts add elegance and more rustic elements. I did this in a Fall Grapevine Citrus Wreath that may interest you. The pinecones also add wonderful texture.

Incidentally, while reading Christmas family room tour, you may also be interested in this post about how I updated this cutting board into a sign hanging on the shutter. In addition to being quick and easy this would be a wonderful gift.

The lace ribbon adds an especially pretty touch to a rustic sign. In addition to the sign I hung these bells and boxwood wreath found shopping some time ago.
I also added a rusty washer and you can read how to do this in this post.

The rusty washer elevates the sign, don’t you think?
Christmas Bookcase
Bookcase decorated for the Season
As an example, bottle brush trees are a favorite of mine. I have a fairly large collection. However, I’m always on the hunt for a few new trees to add to my collection.
Bottle brush trees are fun to decorate with because they add charm, texture and interest. For example, bottle brush trees work great with mini pinecones, greens and small ornaments too.
Also, bottle brush trees are perfect for adding to antique and thrifted finds you may enjoy reading the history of a few of the pieces.
A thrifted pitcher filled with cedar and a small bottle brush nestled inside adds a fun look.
An antique French frame adds a romantic look with the word JOY.
Let’s See More Treasures on the Bookcase
Seeing More Pieces on the Shelves
An Ironstone antique soup tureen holds bottlebrush trees of various sizes.
An Alabaster birdbath found thrifting holds a bottle brush tree with mini snow covered pinecones.
Other tureens look especially pretty filled with pinecones.
This small antique tureen filled with gilded walnuts and antique mercury glass garland spilling over the side adds elegance.
Candles are sitting inside antique tea cups from my grandmothers and add warmth especially during Christmas.
You can read how these walnuts were gilded for this post and this post.
Small pitchers is a fun way to display bottle brush trees. You may enjoy reading this post showing you how I decorate using these pieces for Spring.
Thrifted butter pats add a charming touch adding a small ornament, bell and tree.
The butter pats below are especially pretty because of their unusual shape.
The small bells were purchased last year at this Etsy shop. The bells placed here and there add a bit of whimsy for Christmas.
A French wire basket filled with silver leaf Christmas balls finishes the bookcase.
Christmas Mantle in the Room
Mantle Dressed for the Holidays
Our mantel filled with greens, pinecones and dehydrated oranges and can be found in this tutorial and is very simple.

The mercury glass garland from Antique Farmhouse also adds a great finishing touch.
A lantern with a candle adds warmth for the cold days and nights especially with the fireplace.
A Look at Another Spot in the House
A Look at a Different Spot in the Family Room
An urn filled with snowy white trees adds a bit of winter.
The French table with crate beneath filled with an abundance of ornaments looks pretty.
In the evenings, the ornaments are especially pretty illuminated with fairy lights you can be purchase these on Amazon.
A French armoire found while thrifting looks pretty with a crate and bottle brush trees.
Finally, our home has a semi open floor plan and it’s great for especially enjoying our Christmas décor.
Our tree is enjoyed from both rooms.
I hope you enjoyed our Christmas great room tour and hope you take a look at the links provided for the easy Christmas tutorials.
