My Passion For Making A Wreath
If you have been following Cloches & Lavender, you already know about my deep passion for creating a wreath. This started when I was young, and I have always been drawn to using natural elements in my wreath designs. This particular wreath showcases my love for rustic floral wreaths with a farmhouse look.
One of my favorite ways to hang wreaths is by using delicate lace, which adds a charming and elegant touch to any wreath. When you visit our home, I often mix a European inspired wreath with hints of lavender and various green hues.
About Lavender And Wreath Making
The funny thing about my love for lavender is I’m allergic to the scent. Yet our home is filled with dry lavender all through the year. So, how do I combat my allergies you may ask?
I put new lavender in another section of our for a week. This helps the scent not be so strong and just like that my allergy situation disappears.
Why do I put myself through this, well, it’s because I’m absolutely in love with the purple and silvery green combination. I love the rustic look of lavender. Add that together with the bright color of lemons and green boxwood. It’s a win, win in my book!
As I walk into my craft room, I see a blank wreath form and an empty grapevine base, patiently waiting for me to transform them into a gorgeous wreath for our home. I love using artificial materials to create wreaths that bring beauty and joy to our living space.
So, let’s embark on this wreath-making journey together and create a stunning faux lemon boxwood summer wreath. Adding lemon leaf that will brighten up any room or entryway.
Are Lemons Only For Summer?
Lemons are not limited to hot summer days. They can be a great addition to spring and summer decorating alike. The sunny and vibrant yellow color of lemons brings a cheerful and refreshing touch to any room, particularly the kitchen. However, it’s worth noting that lemons will last longer if kept away from direct sunlight.
In addition to using lemons as decorative accents, incorporate their refreshing scent into your home by using lemon-scented essential oil in an oil diffuser. Imagine walking into your home, especially during the warmest season, and being greeted with a fresh scent of lemon. Spring and summer can create an uplifting atmosphere that complements the bright and sunny vibes
So, whether you choose to use sunny yellow lemons as decorative elements or infuse your home with their fresh aroma, they can be enjoyed throughout the year, bringing a touch of freshness to your living spaces.
This year I plan on making a hydrangea wreath for the fall. I have wanted to make one for a long time so stay tuned for this fall wreath!
How To Display Sunny Yellow Lemons?
Lemons can be displayed in a variety of elegant and straightforward ways. One option is to place them in a bowl or a glass jar, instantly transforming them from ordinary produce into a stunning decorative piece. The vibrant lemons add a pop of freshness and brightness to any space. Fresh lemons typically stay fresh for up to a week when displayed.
However, faux lemons have an incredibly realistic look. Artificial lemons are an excellent investment as they can be used year after year, saving you money. The advantage of using faux lemons is that they retain their lifelike appearance. Making them a versatile and cost-effective choice for decorating your home.
So, whether you choose fresh lemons or faux lemons, both provide a simple accent that adds a touch of natural elegance to your space.
Displaying Lemons With Fresh Flowers
When displaying lemons with fresh flowers the lifespan of flowers will decrease due to the acidity of the lemons.
To prevent direct contact between the lemon slices and the fresh flowers, place a smaller glass cylinder or vase in between. This acts as a barrier, keeping the lemon slices securely in place. Also ensuring the flowers remain unaffected by the lemon’s acidity. This way, you can enjoy the stunning visual contrast between the vibrant yellow lemons and the beauty of the fresh flowers.
This way, you can enjoy the vibrant colors and beauty of the fresh flowers without shortening the lifespan of a floral arrangement.
This year I plan on making a hydrangea wreath for the fall. I have been wanting to make one for a long time so stay tuned! Did I just say fall? Yes, the life of a blogger planning ahead.
What Crafts Can You Make With Artificial Lemons?
There are plenty of creative crafts you can make with faux lemons. Here are some ideas to inspire you.
- Faux Lemon Wreath: Use a grapevine or foam wreath base and attach faux lemons with hot glue or wire. Add greenery, ribbon, or other embellishments for a vibrant and summery wreath.
- Faux Lemon Garland: String faux lemons together with twine or wire to create a cheerful garland. Hang it across a mantel, wrap it around a banister, or drape it on a wall for a pop of color.
- Faux Lemon Centerpiece: Arrange faux lemons in a decorative bowl or tray and use it as a vibrant centerpiece for your dining table or coffee table. You can mix them with other artificial fruits or add fresh flowers for an extra touch.

- Faux Lemon Kitchen Decor: Place faux lemons in a decorative bowl or clear glass canister to add a bright touch to your kitchen counter or shelves. You can also fill a glass jar with faux lemons and display it on a windowsill or near your sink.
- Faux Lemon Candle Holders: Cut a small hole in the top of a faux lemon and insert a tea light candle. Use them as charming candle holders to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. This is on my list to try.
- Faux Lemon Scented Sachets: Fill small fabric sachets with dried lemon-scented potpourri or add a few drops of lemon essential oil to cotton balls. Place them in drawers or closets to add a fresh and citrusy aroma. Imagine the fresh smell this adds for summer.

Steps To Put Faux Boxwood Wreath For The Front Door
Step 1: Adding The Faux Lemons Decide Placement
Determine where you want to position the lemons on the faux boxwood wreath. Consider spacing them evenly or creating a focal point with a cluster of lemons.
This wreath has been used many times so, this time I decided to add hot glue. This piece will only last for the next two summers.

Step 2: Use Hot Glue Or Drill Holes In Lifelike Lemons
If you’re using florist wire, carefully drill a small hole through the center of each lemon. The hole should be just wide enough to accommodate the wire. This step allows you to reuse the wreath for future projects.
When using the hot glue gun carefully add glue to each lemon and place it on the wreath.

Step 3: Insert Florist Wire Or Add Hot Glue
Cut pieces of florist wire to the desired length. Insert one end of the wire through the drilled hole in each lemon, leaving a small portion sticking out on the other side. If you prefer using a hot glue gun, skip this step.
Step 4: Attach The Vibrant Lifelike Lemons
Take each lemon with the inserted wire (or use hot glue) and position it onto the faux boxwood wreath according to your desired arrangement. If using wire, gently push the exposed wire ends into the wreath to secure the lemons.
If using hot glue, apply a small amount of glue to the back of each lemon and press firmly onto the wreath until the glue sets.
Step 5: Add Green Leaves or Lemon Leaves
To enhance the natural look of the wreath, incorporate green leaves or specifically lemon leaves. Choose areas on the wreath where you want to add these elements, considering an even distribution and a visually appealing arrangement.

Step 6: Secure Leaves Hot Glue
Using a hot glue gun or florist wire, attach the stems of the leaves to the wreath. If using wire, wrap it around the stems and secure it tightly. If using a hot glue gun, apply a small amount of glue to the stems and press them firmly onto the wreath until the glue sets.

Step 7: Introduce Faux Lavender Or Faux Flowers
If desired, incorporate faux lavender sprigs into the wreath design. Choose areas on the wreath where you want to add these elements, considering an even distribution and a visually appealing arrangement.

Step 8: Secure The Flowers To Summer Wreath
Using a hot glue gun or florist wire, attach the stems of the faux lavender sprigs to the wreath. Follow the same instructions as in step 7, depending on your preferred method. Remember to move the lavender branches around the lemons.. This keeps the flowers looking natural on the wreath.
Step 9: Final Adjustments And Front Door
Step back and assess the wreath’s overall appearance. Make any necessary adjustments to the placement of the lemons, leaves, and faux lavender, ensuring a balanced and visually pleasing composition.
The green of the boxwood and the vibrant lemons and the purple lavender make a simple sticking statement on our black front door for the summer months.
By following these steps, you’ll create a stunning faux boxwood wreath adorned with lifelike lemons, green or lemon leaves, and optional faux lavender. The combination of these elements will bring a fresh and vibrant touch to your home decor. Enjoy the creative process and let your personal style shine through as you craft your beautiful wreath.
I hope you’re inspired to make a faux lemon boxwood summer wreath with lemon leaf for your home. Also, I hope you try some of the suggestions above. Which idea is your favorite idea to add lemons to your summer home? I’d enjoy reading your favorite!
