Most Asked Questions Valentine’s Day Gifts
What are the most popular Valentine’s Day gifts?
- Flowers: Red roses are usually the primary flowers of choice for Valentine’s Day. These flowers were considered the favorite flower of Venus, the Goddess of Love and beauty. Over the years, things have evolved, and mixing different flowers makes the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day. Add Alstroemeria, the Daisy, Lily, Peony, and Ranunculus. Baby’s Breathe is a great option to add for a delicate touch.
- Chocolate Box: A chocolate box is the perfect gift for your Valentine especially if they love sweet treats. Chocolate heart shapes are readily available as well as other assorted Valentine chocolate today. These days your local grocery store or Trader Joe has a wide range of good chocolate. The box bottom from the Valentine’s chocolate can be saved to create a heart wreath for next year to hang on your home decor.
- Romantic Dinner: Instead of spending money at restaurants, make a romantic dinner together. My husband and I make a romantic dinner together every year and we find it to be the perfect Valentine’s celebration. We usually finish the evening off with a movie and an assortment of milk chocolate, my husband’s favorite, and dark chocolate which is my favorite!
What is another great option for the perfect gift?
- Gift Basket: How about putting a gift basket together filled with a favorite perfume or cologne? Add their favorite scented body wash for a relaxing bubble bath along with assorted sweet treats and of course, a chocolate box filled with good chocolate to enjoy.
- Love Language: What is love language? Love language doesn’t have to cost a thing and may be the most perfect gift of all for a unique Valentine’s gift. Think of words of affirmation. Just saying you are special and I love you is a perfect gift. Have that romantic dinner together and cherish the quality time together. Speaking of love language, this piece I found on Etsy is the perfect Valentines and is quite romantic. Take the time to check this link and it can be customized with your own information.
- Act of Service Love Language: This love language can be as simple as taking out the garbage, filling your significant other’s car with gas, helping clean the house, or packing your loved one a loved one a lunch.
- Cookies From Your Favorite Cookie Doughs: Making cookies from your favorite cookie doughs is a fun way to celebrate Valentines Day. After enjoying your romantic dinner enjoy your favorite cookies and these heart-shaped chocolates while watching a movie and snuggling under a cozy throw blanket.
Is Chocolate Gluten Free?
For my gluten free readers: Chocolate, whether it’s dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate (doesn’t contain gluten). However, depending on the flavor, manufacturers will add ingredients that contain gluten, so, make sure to read the manufacturer’s ingredients carefully.
Dark chocolate contains much more cacao than milk chocolate. Dark chocolate can contain about 50-90% cacao, while milk chocolate only contains 10-50% cacao. The difference in the percentage of cacao contributes to the taste in both. Dark chocolate is typically more bitter than milk chocolate.
Craft Supplies For Valentine’s Chocolate

- mint silk (optional)
- silicone heart shapes mold – (similar to my heart-shaped chocolates) Another option get free shipping with Amazon Prime

Melt Chocolate
Step 1: Decadent Chocolates Melting Perfection
The first thing, when melting chocolate for the chocolate hearts, using candy melt is a great option, especially with a mix of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white. The candy melt is equipped with a divided silicone insert. This is a great way to add the details using a clean small paintbrush, which takes these chocolate hearts to the next level.
Here, you have the option to use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white, or customize the flavors. Feel free to tailor the flavors of your chocolate hearts according to your liking.
Pro Tip: After melting chocolate for 25+ years, I recommend adding a bit of vegetable oil when melting white chocolate for a shiny, tempered look. Alternatively, try Ghirardelli melting wafers, they set quickly. Keep in mind, that melting wafers are not dairy-free.
If you are using milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, and especially white chips, I recommend adding a drop of vegetable oil when starting the chocolate melting process. Whether you’re using candy melt or a double boiler, this is the easiest way to give melted chocolate a sheen without the need for tempering.

Add The Details
Step 2: Brushing Magic – Enhancing Chocolate Heart Details
Once you’ve chosen the chocolate flavor for your chocolate hearts, use a clean small paint brush to add intricate details to your molds. Whether using milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate, this is a fun way to personalize your heart shapes. A great option of using candy melt with a divider, is minimizing cleanup.
Pro Tip: If you opt for chocolate chips instead of candy melts, it might take a bit longer for the chocolate to set. Place the mold in the refrigerator for five minutes to speed up the setting process. Melting wafers, on the other hand, set up quickly.

Pour Chocolate Into Mold
Step 3: Add Melted Milk Chocolate To Molds And Smoothing
Pour either dark chocolate or milk chocolate into the molds to form your chocolate hearts. Place the chocolate-filled molds in the refrigerator for setting, typically around three minutes, adjusting based on your refrigerator’s temperature. Insert the wide end of the sandwich pick into the heart shapes to create small holes. The small holes will be used to make the chocolate Valentine heart garland.

Make Holes
Step 4: Precision Crafting – Create Holes With A Sandwich Stick
Once the chocolate is set use the fat end of the sandwich stick to create the small holes to put the Valentine chocolates together to assemble the garland.
Pro Tip: Add a dish underneath your chocolate hearts to make it easier to put them in the refrigerator.

String Heart Shapes
Step 5: Crafting Heart-Shaped Chocolates – Incorporate Food-Safe Twine
Lightly twist the end of the twine, this will make the bakers twine small enough to fit into the back of each chocolate heart. Push the the food safe twine through the small holes in your chocolate hearts, crafting a charming chocolate Valentine garland. Whether displayed, stored in the refrigerator, or tucked away in the freezer until Valentine’s Day, the choice is yours. Speaking from personal experience, in our household, these Valentine chocolates didn’t last long. Both my husband and I share a love for chocolate, so it was gone in no time. LOL!

These are adorable! Such a clever idea Cindy!
So very sorry to hear about Peanut. God Bless.
I know I couldn’t resist a chocolate garland! Reminds me of the heart necklaces we used to wear as a child. Of course, they were small but yummy! Happy LUV day!
