The weather is a bit confusing here. One day it feels as though spring is on its way and the next cold. But the sun is bright and a few Daffodils are blooming.
Our cherry blossom has tiny buds forming and our lilacs are showing signs of waking up for their show. I also saw my first Robin. My grandma used to say the first Robin means warmer days are closer.

What Is French Country?
French Country Decorating
French Country decor is a mixture of European elegance mixed with rustic pieces and elements in the home. Neutral hues, mixed with soft patterns can be found in this style of home.
As you’ll see in our home antique pieces are mixed with newer pieces to add a collected look to our home. For example, in our home, I add Florentine pieces to add a bit of elegance.’

Easy Ways to Add French Country Style To The Entry
The first thing you see when entering our front door is this easy natural spring wreath. It hangs from a DIY antique mirror where I share how to make this using no harsh chemicals.
Our foyer is filled with many of my favorite things with a color scheme of soft blue, light tan, and grays. Because our home is a semi-open floor plan the color palettes need to have a cohesive look.
This year I also shopped our home barely using any new things for our French spring home decor.
This wreath is a great way to use natural materials such as grapevine garlands, naturally spotted feathers, and moss. I share an easy-to-follow tutorial.
I have a fondness for topiaries so adding this topiary I made is a breath of fresh air. This is extremely easy to make and guess what I made fake dirt too, get all the details! It takes 3 minutes to make and is one of the best ways to make any faux flowers look real.

French Country Look With Accessories
On our chest, a cloche filled with terra cotta pots, green mini sonnets from 1884, and a bird’s nest is an easy way to add spring with a French style.
Dried lavender is a must in any French home and reminds me of Provence’s beautiful French countryside. It’s in one of my wicker baskets and looks as if it is ready for a French flower market and adding a rustic look for early spring. Notice the satin ribbon tied as a men’s necktie which adds a bit of whimsy.
A large church lantern with a small moss wreath, a rabbit statue, and a pitcher with spindles and a small crown finish the spring foyer.

French Dining Table Spring Decor Inspiration
To add a touch of spring I added silver dollar eucalyptus and delicate ivory spring flowers to a French antique jardinière.
Our dining table has a rustic finish with antiquing oil so I never cover our table. In fact a table runner on this table and our table in our French kitchen. By the way, these runners are actually curtains from our old home. Not fitting the length of our windows in this home it was an inexpensive way to use what I already owned. I bought these from Country curtains so they are very well made. Remember their stores? I loved their selections, did you too?
I love Florentine so a Florentine side table is filled with French decor. Florentine pieces can often be found at flea markets and thrift stores for fantastic prices. So keep a lookout while shopping
Ironstone pitchers are a must in our French home. Keeping it simple with a large Santos crown and pussy willows is perfect.
Lastly, is this wreath hanging on an old door? It has all of my favorites in one piece. Grapevine, moss, a bird nest, and dried lavender buds, oh my! It makes me smile every day and is so fast to make!

Adding Spring To Our Living Room
This is one of my favorite rooms to decorate with the seasonal decor in our French country cottage. I usually begin with our bookcase and this year I kept it in a neutral palette and I love it so much. We all go bonkers that time of year with decor. Don’t you think so too?
French antique pink books and an antique chocolate rabbit mold and a chalk ware bust with a spring ribbon and more green sonnets from 1848 keep the shelf neutral.
The addition of other French books inside an ironstone tureen bottom with a French egg I made is perfect. Continuing with simplicity a pink Peony canvas, a flowerpot, and dried chamomile buds with some of my crown collection are all the spring items needed.
More French Touches
Other Pieces for French Flair
Changing the throw pillows is a must for the warmer months and the toile is classic and never goes out of style. It still gets cold in NJ so a throw in another basket is great to still snuggle while watching a favorite movie. Soon it will be baseball every night in this house and we can’t wait!
Every coffee table needs a centerpiece so I kept it simple with an assortment of flowerpots. This is in my opinion the easiest way to get vintage aged terracotta pots that look realistic and natural.
Of course, Reeses had to say hello. His sister Peanut is blind and spends time on the couch while mommy takes pictures to avoid getting hurt.
Last but not least is my French wood crate filled with dried hydrangeas which makes for a dramatic look. This moss wreath is still a favorite, it is so simple it will blow you away!
