You may have seen people on TikTok make these. These may be a few more calories, but 25 calories isn’t much. Trust me when I tell you, these are the best way to go because they are that good! There’s something so good about fresh blueberries covered in melted chocolate. They’re perfect at room temperature or chilled straight from the fridge for a cool, delicious snack!

Equipment Needed: Chocolate Blueberry Clusters

  • Airtight container
  • Wilton Chocolate Melter (HERE) or double boiler
  • Baking sheet – MY FAVORITE – (HERE)
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • 1 cup measuring cup
  • 1 tsp. measuring spoon
  • Spoon or Drizzle Scoop – I LOVE THIS FOR CANDY AND COOKIE DECORATING

Simple Ingredients for the Best Dark Chocolate Blueberries Combo

  • Fresh blueberries or dried blueberries
  • Dewey’s lemon and Dewey’s French vanilla wafers – these can be found at WalmartAmazon, or the grocery store.e
  • Dark chocolate chips or dark chocolate bars – Ghirardelli – (HERE)
  • White chocolate bars or white chips – Ghirardelli (HERE)
  • Coconut oil, sunflower oil, or vegetable oil
ingredients

Step 1: Washing and Drying Blueberries a Must for This Delicious Treat

After washing the blueberries, make sure they are completely dry. It’s important; one drop of water will cause the chocolate to seize and become a mess. While the blueberries are drying. Place the Dewey’s wafers in lemon and French vanilla on a parchment paper or wax paper-lined baking sheet

Cindy’s Note: At the bottom of this blog post, I will share a link to a sweet and salty chocolate potato chips recipe that takes minutes of prep. I share details to avoid melting chocolate. The best way to melt a bowl of chocolate in the microwave, and why I’m not a fan of the microwave for melting a bowl of chocolate. However, if this is the best way for you to get the details!

Step 2: Blueberry Coating With Rich Chocolate Goodness

To make my rich chocolate blueberry coating, I added ½ cup of dark chocolate chips directly to my Wilton Candy Melt, no oil needed. Adding oil makes the chocolate too runny. I used 72% rich dark chocolate “chips”, and they’ve got a good amount of cocoa butter, so they melt smoothly and are creamy.

Cindy’s Wilton Candy Melt Note: I highly recommend this candy melt. (No, I don’t get compensated.) Any type of chocolate melts perfectly every time! Turn the chocolate on high and switch to low heat. Keep the chocolate smooth and creamy. You can use chocolate bars instead of chips. Chop the chocolate bars into small pieces before melting.

Step 3: A Delicious Treat with Melted Chocolate and Dry Blueberries

I used my Wilton drizzle scoop to add a nice coating of chocolate to each wafer. You can use the tip of a teaspoon, but honestly, I can’t recommend this drizzle scoop enough. (HERE) Then I added five clean and dried fresh blueberries, stacking them like a little pyramid, four on the bottom, one on top. The cookies act like a mini plate for blueberries, which I love. Then, drizzle dark and white melted chocolate over the top and let them set. So easy, so good!

Cindy’s Note: The lemon wafers are the perfect and delicious contrast with blueberries coated in a sweet white drizzle. The French vanilla adds just the right sweetness to pair with the rich chocolate.

Step 4: Snack Storage: White & Dark Chocolate Blueberries In an Airtight Container

  • Fresh berries, like white and dark covered blueberries, are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 1–2 days.
  • Dried blueberries? These hold up great!  Store them in an airtight container, and they’ll last for about a week at room temperature.

Working with White Chips for a Creamy Blueberry Shell

I also used white chips for my blueberry coating. For this, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, vegetable, or sunflower oil per ½ cup of white chips. Just keep in mind, this type of chocolate can be a little finicky. Use extra caution and make sure your double boiler stays over low heat. No water should touch the chocolate. White chocolate will seize in an instant! Visit my blog post at the bottom of my post to learn tips I learned over 20 years about melting chocolate.

Cindy’s Coconut Oil Note: If you choose to use creamy milk chocolate for your blueberry shell, decrease the quantity of oil. Milk chocolate has more fat and will become too runny. So, a little oil goes a long way.

Bonus: A Guilt-Free Healthy Treat with Blueberries, Chocolate, and Crunch

Bonus: This easy dessert works with fresh blueberries or dried, so use what you have on hand. It’s the best way to grab something sweet on the run that’ll satisfy your sweet tooth, minus the guilt! These chocolate blueberry clusters are covered with white chocolate and rich dark chocolates on vanilla and lemon wafer. Each is a delicious contrast. You get creamy, tart, sweet, and a little crunch all in one bite.

What Other fruit can I use?

Fresh Fruit Ideas:

  • Raspberries: delicate but delicious, covered in white, dark, or creamy milk chocolate
  • Strawberries: a classic with white or dark chocolate
  • Blackberries: tart and sweet. Perfect with dark chocolate
  • Cherries: pit them first! These are a delicious contrast with white and dark chocolate.
  • Banana slices: best frozen first, then dipped in chocolate
  • Grapes: surprisingly good, covered in dark chocolate. Be careful with grapes around dogs. Very dangerous, can cause death

Dried Fruit Options:

  • Blueberries: great choice with creamy vanilla or any chocolate. I eat frozen blueberries in yogurt, so good. (BLUBERRIES – HERE)
  • Cranberries: a great bite-sized choice with white or milk chocolate (CRANBERRIES – HERE)
  • Apricots: a chewy base with a sweet contrast (APRICOTS – HERE)
  • Figs: rich and earthy, especially good with dark chocolate (FIGS – HERE)
  • Pineapple: tropical and bright, works well with white chocolate (Pineapple HERE)
  • Cherries – slightly tart and sweet, perfect with all types of chocolate. Have you ever added these to salads with fresh grated parmesan? Amazing! (CHERRIES – HERE)

  • Biscoff cookies: warm, spiced, and buttery, and amazing with dark chocolate and berries. Biscoff cookies (HERE)
  • Vanilla Wafers: light, crispy, and just sweet enough to let the fruit and chocolate shine
  • Shortbread cookies: a classic, buttery, and sturdy cookie. Perfect with any chocolate
  • Graham crackers – mellow and sweet; great with creamy vanilla chocolate and cherries
  • Thin ginger snaps – a spicy contrast to sweet fruit and creamy vanilla chocolate. Thin ginger cookies (HERE)
  • Chocolate wafer cookies – for a double chocolate moment, especially with strawberries and raspberries. By the way, these Dewey’s make the best icebox cookies. I promise, I have done it! Chocolate wafers (HERE)

Chocolate Blueberry Clusters in the Refrigerator:

  • Keep fresh white and dark chocolate blueberries chilled, and they’ll stay good for 3–5 days.
  • Separate with parchment or wax paper to avoid sticking. The cold keeps the chocolate firm and the berries fresh.
  • Dried blueberries can last 2 weeks or more in the fridge, and they’re the perfect delicious snack and healthy treat anytime!

Can I Freeze Easy Chocolate-Covered Blueberries?

I don’t recommend freezing these. The blueberries will get mushy when they thaw. Freezing also will change the creaminess of the chocolate.

Customize Your Recipe Card for Perfect Dark Chocolate Blueberries

Adjust the recipe card based on how many fresh or dried blueberries you’re using to make this easy dessert and snack. If you’re working with about two cups of blueberries, melt one cup of melted chocolate with 1 teaspoon of coconut, vegetable, or sunflower oil; it’s that easy! But here’s the thing: if you add coconut or sunflower oil to dark chocolate chips, the chocolate can get too runny and won’t coat the berries well. And if you’re going for a creamy milk chocolate coating, decrease quantity of oil to about ½ teaspoon. Too much and you’ll lose that perfect blueberry coating.
