Great Room Christmas

Welcome to our great room.  I enjoy decorating this room for Christmas very much and filling our bookcase with pieces I love.

As you can see, I love bottle brush trees.  Some are new, some are vintage and I try to use them in different ways.

This group of bottle brush trees I wanted to add to my antique pink transferware stacked dishes.  I love crowns and thought this metal crown added a bit of a romantic feel and the small cow bells I found on Etsy quite a while ago and love them.

Here I added an antique mercury glass beaded garland with an antique ornament with the small newer bottle brush tree.  Mixing new with old works well together in my antique compote from France.  As you can see, I nestled another small crown with a touch of greens to put a finishing touch to this piece.

Above is another example of mixing old with new.   The small French cast iron urn and bottle brush tree are old.  The footed sugar bowl and dish are antiques and a newer tree looks right at home.  Added were the fresh chestnuts for a touch of nature with more small cow bells.  The newer bottle brush tree in back adds some height and interest.

Above is my baby shoe my parents had bronzed for me to have when I got married.  This piece I cherish with all my heart.  Next to it is a small antique dish with small cherubs which add a bit of a French touch.   More bells and my small antique French frame finish this off with the word Joy to sum up how I feel about this and my life.

Antique pieces and books add so much charm to this corner.  The wreath of rustic jingle bells was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law many years ago they bought it for me on a vacation in Connecticut at an antique store.

Some vintage bottle brush trees, antique books and antique mercury glass garland add charm.

On the coffee table I kept it simple not to make things to busy with pine cones and antlers that I will leave all winter.  This adds a wonderful rustic French touch.

A simple snowflake pillow from Home Goods with a throw for snuggling while watching Christmas movies is simple to add interest and texture.

Our TV is over the fireplace at the perfect height for viewing.  Hubby and I made sure of that while being blessed building this home we love.  I try to keep it simple and the greens and  mercury glass ornament garland add just enough with a burlap and ruffle stocking I found on Etsy many years ago.

Our larger German twig tree is filled with collectable ornaments that I have been collecting since I’ve been married.  Some were also gifts from my best girlfriend, and some my friend and I bought together which makes them more special.  A crown is the finishing touch.

Below is our buffet with some classic touches for the Christmas season. Again, keeping it simple not to look too busy.

  3. Hi Cindy! I enjoyed the tour of your great room, what a cozy charming space you’ve made it! Those bottle brush trees are gorgeous and I love all the little touches you’ve added throughout your decor to add interest, like the chestnuts! Enjoy the cozy delightful space you’ve created!! 4. Your room is decorated lovely, the tree is beautiful, but the star has to be that cupboard full of treasured items! I do love bottle brush trees too, and your collection is fantastic!

  5. I love your tour! The shelves are styled so beautifully and the tree is as cute as can be. Love your ornaments. But the best part is reading the word Joy and that it’s how you feel about your life. Merry Christmas!

  6. Oh my gosh, those shelves were enough but then the tree (crown!) and sideboard (elegant) swept me away! I love it all. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm and Merry Christmas to you and your family! xo Kathleen
