Lavender Grapevine Wreath

Hello my sweet followers, today I’m taking part in a DIY Challenge hosted by my friend Terrie from Decorate and More with Tip. Terrie thanks for hosting another challenge.

Wasn’t Christine’s wreath from CDS Country Living wreath beautiful?

If you’re new to Cloches and Lavender I would love for you to follow my blog. I give painting tips, decorating, crafting tips and the occasional recipe. For those that have been following me thanks you, you know how much your friendships mean to me!

Our challenge this month is creating a grapevine wreath of any size..

Lucky for me, I had everything I needed, I always have grapevine wreaths in my office. The lavender I purchased last summer and the ribbon I purchased years back from Ballard, win, win $0!

Decorating a grapevine wreath is pretty simple, a glue gun isn’t necessary but if you feel more comfortable gluing by all means go ahead. The stems of lavender slip into the wreath and the grapevine holds them securely, not much easier.  As you will see I was going to add some  seeded eucalyptus in the beginning and changed my mind.

Grapevine wreaths are great to use when decorating for adding texture to your home as are books and baskets.

I used wire cutters and snipped each branch to place them one at a time between the vines. I used five branches per end, this keeps the odd number theory for decorating. For our French/ French Country home I wanted a more sparse look, it adds a simplistic and rustic look, love mixing rustic with elegant.

Next, I used French script wire edged ribbon I mentioned I had on hand. I love this ribbon and sadly it’s getting to the end, I will have to search for a replacement down the road.

I got my inspiration for my bow from my mom, she loved scarves and had an entire drawer full. She liked tying them in her hair in a similar fashion as my bow, swept to one side with a knot. Do any of you ladies out there remember?

I know I have a picture of my mom wearing her scarf similar to this but couldn’t find the exact picture.  Here’s a reference SOURCE

  1. So pretty, Cindy. I love that your mom was your inspiration. That makes me smile and think of my own mom…and that’s always nice.

  2. I can’t wait for my lavender to come up this year, it’s one of my favorites. This wreath is lovely, thank you for sharing!
