Christmas Foyer

Christmas is almost here and I can’t believe how fast this time of year goes by.  I would love to have a pause button.  I think I would be hitting pause nonstop.

This weekend I made a lovely stew and biscuits.  It was a cold weekend and was a perfect for a hearty meal.

Another pair of candle holders received a makeover and I’m loving how they turned out.

These were purchased quite a while ago.  Photo below shows what they were looking like, nice.  As my style has evolved, I wanted to make them look a bit more French Country.

Chalk paint was used and I wiped with a damp rag to let the black show.

As you see, gold gilding wax was added here and there to add a bit more charm.

The plan was to make a Trumeau mirror for the foyer before Christmas but that didn’t happen and is a project for the winter.  Audrey, my close friend I speak about often, bought another Etsy gift card and I used it to purchase pretty appliques for the mirror so they are ready to go.

The small German tree is in this spot filled with assorted glass ornaments .  Many are gifts from Audrey years ago.  I love remembering what ones were gifts and ones I purchased shopping with her.  We are both like that.

The tree lit at twilight. I used a metal base filled with garlands I had stored.

This basket below is filled with my love, dried lavender most times.  It’s filled with a mixture of faux greens and a pomegranate to add a bit of color.

Hope you are enjoying this time of year with ones you love.  Next weekend will be a big cookie baking.  Can’t wait, John and I have always enjoyed making these together since we have been married .
