Small Changes

Hello my friends, hope you’re all doing well.

Today I would love for you to see a few changes I made on the mantel in our dining room.  I’m enjoying this piece here and having fun styling it with different pieces.

The cloche on the end I bought many years ago at Home Goods. I still like the piece, color didn’t work for my décor anymore.  I know, here we go again, painting.  I can’t help myself, if I enjoy the piece and not the color paint is the best tool.

Since this is porcelain I did a wash of Jolie Antique White paint first to give it some tooth. Porcelain is slick and my experience when painting it even with chalk paint it needs something for the paint to grab on to.

I could have primed the piece first but I didn’t want a solid color look if that makes sense?

Wanting the details to show after the wash was completely dry, a few hours, I went over the piece with dry brushing in the same color and I adore the look.

I added a small canvas Peony painting I found years ago antiquing in northern NJ.

The pieces on the shelf were already there from another post. I moved them over to the other far end and love the look.

Beneath where I had a terrarium, I added a cloche. I purchased from Antique Farmhouse recently and love.

I haven’t purchased new cloches in years, these certainly grabbed my attention.

A stack of antique tea cup saucers from my grandmother and my mom along with an old  sugar bowl I found thrifting months ago, love the pattern, colors and $5 wasn’t bad either.

Filled with dried rosebuds and pearls adds a romantic touch.

I hope you are finding pretty pieces to move around your home too!
