Pumpkins in Our French Cottage

Welcome to Cloches and Lavender, if you’re new to Cloches and Lavender welcome.  I have been MIA for three weeks, why, here it is!  I had an infusion for my MS three weeks ago.  I needed to fit many vaccines in before this infusion and.  Not thinking I received my flu shot the day before, lesson learned, bad idea.  This drug is working so well, the one downside, three weeks after my immune system is very compromised.  I think you may know what I may say next, yes Cindy got a Minnie flu.  Other issue, John had a horrible head cold and yes I got that too.  Nothing can be done about getting a cold but I should have thought about getting my flu shot three weeks earlier.  Will not happen next year.  I’m finally back to myself.  I have to accept this is a strong drug and three weeks after my infusion I have to take it very slow, that’s on me.

Today,  I would love to share pumpkins I have added to our foyer.   I recently shared a post on how I gave our Bombay chest a makeover HERE and shared how it was decorated for early fall.  With the season moving along I wanted to carry the “Pumpkin” feel to this space.  Adding a white pumpkin to a silver-plate bowl filled with real dried acorns adds the perfect touch moving through the season.  Doesn’t it look right at home on the base of this old rustic cloche.  I love the look this adds to our French Cottage.

Look at that stem!  I love finding pumpkins with a great stem it gives them character don’t you think?

I also recently designed this French Mirror HERE.  For any new visitors I hope you take a look to see how this piece came together.

I also nestled a pumpkin on our bookcase with a faux antler and very old books with a tiny dried Hydrangea to add more charm and warmth.

I still love this French vignette of antique French books, lavender and a little metal crown.  The vintage Florentine picture is perfect with my tiny real acorn branch.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these updates.  Stay tuned, next I will be sharing my tablescape for a Harvest Day I am having with my family.  There will be pretty touches to the dining room table with snippets of some food I plan to serve that can be made ahead and freezes  perfectly.  You may be inspired.  Nothing like family, great food and sweets!

Hello, my name is Cindy and welcome to Cloches & Lavender. I enjoy making our house a home with antiques and thrifted finds. Antiques are used as my staples in my dcor to remain on a budget. I will often upcycle pieces with paint to make them new again. I enjoy DIYs

  3. Love your pumpkins. As always you are so clever with your decor. Sorry that you haven’t been feeling well, but I’m so glad the MS drug has worked so well for you. xo Laura

  4. Glad you are finally feeling better, Cindy! That cloche is amazing – I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like that. And you’re right, the pumpkin has the coolest stem! Just last week I was at a pumpkin farm with my friend and we were commenting about some of the interesting stems on pumpkins that we saw. My friend is *very* into the stems…she would love yours!

  5. Hi Melanie, I saw that post of your pumpkin trip.  I commented late.Yes, I am a big stem person with pumpkins.   I feel like that’s the character. Enjoy the rest of your week

  6. Cindy I am so happy that you are back and hope you are feeling better.

I just love the pumpkins you got with the longer stems. maybe save them after the pumpkin goes bad to use for next year on a faux pumpkin. That would be awesome.

    Happy Fall my friend!

  7. Funny you should say that about the stems. I just changed my kitchen centerpiece around and I have two white pumpkins I did some tweaking too. I added real stems to them before using them. Such a game changer.

I will be definatly saving these. It’s great to feel better.

  8. So sorry to hear that you’ve been under the weather but very glad you’re feeling better. That cloche is awesome and baby boos with cool stems are the best. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen
