Learn about Me and Fall

With all the changes that have taken place in our great room I now have the luxury of using accent colors I wasn’t able to use.

I have shown some changes that have taken place.  With the seasons changing and family gatherings beginning the entire reveal of this room will be pushed back a few weeks, however, you will see snippets here and there.

I will be sharing this room in full very soon.

We now have neutral furniture in this room.   Goodbye floral, had that most of our marriage.  In this home, which we are planning to be our last, I knew I was going to take our décor in a slightly different direction.  So………

I decided I was going to work deep pinks into the room.  I made the decision seeing votive on Pottery Barn’s website.

I wanted to let you know a bit about myself since I have been in and out of blogging for a couple of years.

I enjoy decorating with French Country, a little French, a bit of French Farmhouse and a tad of romantic thrown in and if it isn’t perfect I can live with that because I love our home and decorating..  I don’t decorate for my blog.  I decorate for our life.

When you see our home decorated, this is how we have lived for thirty years.  I’m not a stager, I move things around in our home but for the most part the items stay where they are and I swap out the smaller pieces.

When I make expensive purchases for antique pieces, these pieces usually stay put and I will make seasonal changes.

Speaking of seasons, fall is my favorite time of year.  I’m a person that burns candles nonstop.  If Bath and Body Works has a sale, I stockpile my favorite scents.

I enjoy cooking and baking and this is the time of year for comfort food, desserts, fires, sweaters and boots.

Another thing to know, which many do is I have MS.  I have been blogging for six years but I haven’t posted on a regular basis for a couple of years due to my MS.

I’m receiving IV infusions every six months of a new biologic and it is working very well.  This wife and puppy momma is busy cleaning her home again.  I know weird, but I love cleaning our home.  I have always found it rewarding.

I exercise seven days a week, which is for my MS, also because I always have been a person who likes fitness.

I enjoy painting furniture and I learned what I know from watching Debbie Travis on HGTV.  At times,  it seems, once I live with a piece I worked on I decide to make improvements or subtle changes.   I’m planning to do some changes to a couple of pieces in our dining room.  Nothing too big but I want to take the time to make them.

I’m completely obsessed with our two babies Peanut and Reeses.  They are brother and sister tween dachshund.  We say Peanut is our baby and Reeses is our toddler.  He’s very curious and has to know what is going on at all times.

They are the loves of our lives.  They have seen me through some tough times.  They know something is up with my health.  Since they were pups they have always gone at my pace not mention they are beautiful and soooo good.

They are with me 24/7 and  have been my therapy dogs at times.  They have to know where I am at all times until daddy gets home.  These two make us laugh out loud everyday and yes, they are spoiled.

I also enjoy watching the NY Mets and NY Jets.  Yes, now you can feel bad for me, two losing teams.

I’m married to my husband for thirty years.  He’s my strength when I have struggled.  He has never wavered throughout my health and always tells me, we will get through this together, not to mention he’s a great personal handyman.

I have a great support system.  My husband, puppies and I can’t leave out my Dad, stepmom and friends.

My dad is a great man who’s always been there my entire life making sure I was okay.

I have been very lucky to have my mom in my life who passed away years ago and still miss today.

I got blessed a second time with my stepmom who has been there for me no matter what’s going on around her.

I hope you enjoyed reading a bit more about me and you are enjoying fall around where you are living.

Hello, my name is Cindy and welcome to Cloches & Lavender. I enjoy making our house a home with antiques and thrifted finds. Antiques are used as my staples in my dcor to remain on a budget. I will often upcycle pieces with paint to make them new again. I enjoy DIYs

  1. Loved reading this today Cindy. I am so happy the new biologic is working for you and you have a great quality of life now. I know Peanut and Reeses are your special fur children and you love them so. They are the cutest and now that I have a doxie of my own I can see why you love them so much. They are gentle and loving and cuddlers. Happy Thursday.

  2. Thanks Kris.   I have never looked forward to a needle and IV before.  Going next Thursday.   3 months from the day I notice changes.  Doxies are love bugs Hugs,

  3. Cindy, I am so happy to see the infusion is working so well for you and all the support you have from family is a blessing. 🙂 The house looks beautiful too!

  4. Cindy, I did enjoy reading this! The things you have in your home are so pretty! I love the colors in your pillows and accessories. Having gone a little overboard with my blue, I’m not trying to add some pink into our home too. It feels so girly and fresh. 🙂

I’m really glad your infusions are helping! We never really know what someone behind a blog is living with so I’m glad you shared this today. You might really be encouraging someone today who needs to know about this. 🙂

  5. I always think the same when speaking about my MS. I have been living with since 26 now 53. I vowed if I got mobility stronger I would not take a single minute for granted and that’s what I am doing.

If I can help one person or make someone aware that’s music to my ears.

Thank you for your time and support always

  6. I’m relatively new to your blog, and I enjoyed learning more about you. The pinks you are adding to your home are lovely, rich and mellow, not the bubblegum pink that can be garish. I’m glad the infusions are working to help you cope with your MS. A family member has it and I know the debilitation it can cause.

  7. Hi Lorrie

Thanks for visiting. Yes, I’m using deeper more rich pinks for the fall and winter.

For spring I will go a bit softer but never bubblegum.

I have been fortunate that I have been able to walk with a walker. It got tough for a while with spasms but I am much better with this new drug. There’s HOPE

  8. It’s always interesting to learn more about the person behind the blog.

I am always changing things, but I wouldn’t say that I decorate for the blog. Blogging challenges me to do projects I have long had in mind. Without blogging, I don’t know that I would ever have thought to do some of my favorite projects in the house.

Thanks again for the book. I’m looking forward to choosing a few looks that I like and trying to emulate them with what I have on hand.

  9. I will be tackling projects too and incorporating some things into my decor with my own take from the book as well.

I learned about chalk paint from blogging which I love.

Wish I knew about when I first started painting furniture. Makes painting more fun

  10. Wonderful post, Cindy! I’m glad you are continuing to feel the benefits of the infusions. Love the line where you say you decorate for your life, not your blog! As for being a Mets/Jets fan, I feel your pain, being a Giants fan. In fact, I’m sure we feel worse than any team in the league! At least your Jets are winning today!

  11. I really do decorate for me.  I hold my breath with the Jets.  They are the penalty team. I know,  my dad can’t take how bad the Giants are this year.   I  remember you saying you were a fan

  12. Hi Cindy, enjoyed reading a bit more about you and your beautiful life. Your home is gorgeous and your talent for design is amazing. You are an inspiration my friend. Blessings be yours always.

  13. Hi Cindy! I am so happy for you that the infusions are working! I have a couple of friends with MS and I know their struggles but they both are so positive and thankful for the lives they have because we all know, it can always be worse.

I have a rare form of MD and although I don’t have to have the infusions, I do have to take numerous meds every day. Exercise is essential for me too and I go to physiotherapy for my many injuries that I always seem to be sustaining but I am thankful for my life and the support I have.

Your decorating is wonderful and even changing things up a little from time to time is as good as a rest, they say! It is therapeutic too.

Take care, my friend, and enjoy your new updates. Blessings…Sandi

  14. My motto has always been it could be so much worse. I try to look at the glass half full instead of half empty.

I have an amazing husband and am grateful for this drug. The improvements have been life changing.

Sorry to hear your I’ll. You are a strong lady.

I love decorating and painting furniture. I always have.

Enjoy the rest of your day my friend

  15. Hi Cindy!….your fall decor is beautiful and I am so happy to hear that the infusions are making you feel better and you have such a great support system with your family and friends!….Have a great weekend!! Happy cleaning!

  16. It was so nice getting to know more about your and your life! I love all of the touches in your home that you shared.

  17. Awww…Cindy- I thought I had replied to this before. I am so glad that the infusions are working for you. There are so many more options now than there were years ago. I am like you–looking at where I am compared to as where I could be healthwise.

Your home is just beautiful and you are, too. Blessings for a wonderful weekend.

xo Diana ps…Do I have a direct email for you? I doesn’t come up when I backlink at all. Would you mind sending it to me-here’s my addy: dianakos1@gmail.com
