Flower Pot Updates

It was a very humid and hot weekend but I dealt with the high humidity to get some pretty pink flowers to add to our porch and deck.  Finally, the rain for the month of May was horrible and add that with John dodging rain to get the deck finished it was a pain.

After we brought the plants home and began thinking about the deck being pretty I saw our flower pots.  I liked them but realized they were not going to work with the new colors.   We have had these pots for almost 20 years and they already had this refresh.

It wasn’t in my plan but I had to do a quick makeover because I wanted them to work.  These are Fibercon pots and when we bought them they were not the prices they are now and no way was  that spending going to happen.

What to do?  Get the Old White ASCP and French Linen ASCP out and make magic happen.  Paint is a wonderful thing especially chalk paint.

A wash of Old White gave this the new character and color I was looking to add.

A quick coat of French Linen and a wash of old white did the trick.  Don’t you think?

In total I painted six pots for $0, a good thing.  Always have chalk paint on hand in the house for a quick update.

Next day a quick coat of Artisan  Enhancement Varnish to help the life span of the paint.

Finishing up planting today and will share the deck all pretty this weekend.

  1. Well done and so pretty. What a great re love of these pots. We are having the same type of weather. Ugh!!!!

  2. Great job on the refresh on the pots. Those things used to be relatively inexpensive…hahahaha–not anymore–at least not here. Can’t wait to see them all dressed up with plants and placed.
We are still having cool weather and rain. I am ready for some nice warm summer days. xo Diana

  3. Thanks Diana I love painting. I can’t believe how expensive they have gotten, ridiculous. 20 years ago they were cheap. Thank goodness for paint

  4. We just looked at new pots and wow, they were pricey and no nearly as ornate and pretty as yours. I love your makeover, they are fabulous!

  5. Cindy, I really wish I had you close. I have two flower pots that I have painted black. After looking at this blog of yours I want to do what you just did. Love the new look.
