Buffet Update

Good morning friends, today I’m sharing the updated buffet that holds the repainted candleholders I shared.

I know most are sharing their gardens this time of year. I shared our deck HERE with young plants added.  Since that time, I have added pieces here and there to our deck area to add charm. I will be sure to share this with you once our plants are bit larger.

Back to the buffet, this color change is overdue and I’m thrilled with the outcome. Taking this piece from an aged yellow color to this soft gray is a game changer for our great room.

I used Jolie paint in Swedish Grey, it’s become one of my favorite colors, it works well with many other colors.

After the two coats of Swedish Grey had time to dry I decided I was going to make a glaze.

Before I began my next step, my assistant Reeses ran to chase the landscapers and dipped his foot in my paint can.

I didn’t want to wax this large piece, in my opinion I like working with glaze for larger pieces of furniture. I have more play time to get it where I want exactly on the piece.

I used Lowes clear glaze and added burnt umber acrylic until I achieved the mixture I liked.

Using a small brush I added the mixture in spots I wanted aged. I didn’t want to go heavy with aging on this piece.

For the most part, I added it in a few spots and blended it into the paint. The one spot I went a bit heavier was the appliques. I’m very happy that’s all I decided to make be the biggest impact.

I also changed the knobs on the doors. I wanted the key look and found these on Van Dykes website a place I’ve purchased pieces from many times. They have great prices and options also.

The handles on the drawers are French drawerpulls I purchased from Magical Beans Home and I love the details.

It’s getting warmer and warmer and having a love for lavender it seemed a perfect time to add it to my antique French jardiniere. I love the statement it makes on the buffet. It has been well loved and that makes it perfect.

Keeping with late spring and summer, adding moss balls to my candleholders adds a bit of texture.

What do you think? I’m enjoying the collections in this spot in our great room.

    1. You’re so kind Kris, it’s my passion.

Reeses wanted to catch the UPS man. I had his little paw prints on the floor. John and I were cracking up once we knew his foot was okay. Never a dull moment with these twins

  2. Love the new color. Looks like it will go much better with your room than the yellow did. Have a wonderful day. xo Laura

  3. I love the new color!! It really brightens up the piece!! I’ve never heard of Jolie paint, I’m going to have to try it! And, completely agree, wax is mush easier to work with in a larger piece. It seriously looks amazing!!! Love it!
