Quick Paint Update

Today is a quick post showing a piece I have had for years that needed an update.  Colors and a tweak in style is taking place in our home with many pieces.

This piece I purchased years ago at Home Goods.  As most of us know more time than not if something is needed for your home on a budget Home Goods is the place to go.

This piece reminds me of something you saw on the table in the movie Emma.  I wanted to add it for a touch of formality to my French/French Country décor.

This piece started out like this, it’s okay but it needed to be lightened.  It feels a bit heavy for my taste.

Once in my office/craft room I decided Old White in ASCP was the color I was using to make the change.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take progress pictures which is unlike me but if you have been following me you know I love to paint.  Apologies for the picture the window next to my craft table doesn’t allow for the perfect picture.  I’m a blogger that tends to keep things real not staged.

Here she is lightened with ASCP chalk paint in Old White, much better don’t you think?  After I painted her she got a coat of clear wax and dark wax to bring the details and add dimension.  Just enough age added.

Next picture you will notice her new place, in the foyer.  Guess what, she loves being here with my newly updated Bombay chest.

I have had my Bombay chest for at least fifteen years or more.  Next post you will see the magic I worked on her.  I’m in LOVE with how she turned out as well.  Can you love a furniture piece because I do!  Hope you come to see this reveal.

  1. This is such a pretty piece all painted up, Cindy. I truly believe that not all wax is created equal because I’ve never been able to get nearly as nice of an effect using clear and then dark wax as you and many others do. I’m guessing that you use Annie Sloane waxes as well?
