Welcome to Cloches and Lavender. I’m joining others bloggers for a Thrifted Treasure challenge. Items may be thrifted, a piece you own and given new life or created on a small budget.
My choice is giving this corbel I have had for 15 years an update. This was my first experience with ASCP. As you continue to read will notice my chalk paint techniques have much improved since then.
I decided to change this in our new home to work with colors used around the house. The first color I added was ASCP French Linen. Sorry forgot to take that picture. French Linen is a grey tan. Greys and blues are used throughout our home. I’m still painted pieces in our home so I hope you will follow Cloches and Lavender to see the updates.
Duck Egg blue was added.
Photos below you will see the French Linen appear after sanding.
Sanding and clear and dark wax was next.
Here you can see snippets of the original color. For me this adds a more layered look to make this look collected\
I used a dry brush technique of old white to give even more character. You also notice how the clear and dark wax brings chalk paint alive.
I took many pictures so this was able to be seen from all sides.
I hope you enjoyed this makeover and will come back to see the entire vignette in a few days. Notice the pretty antique shutter a a great find years ago.
Please check the links below of everyone who to part in this Challenge.

Cindy, this looks amazing! Your chalk paint technique is exquisite!! I love all the layers of paint and wax…absolutely stunning!! I generally only use white chalk, but this definitely makes me want to switch it up and layer the different colors on.
Such a great project!!!

I love your corbels.
I am looking for a set of corbels to create a table height shelf in our hallway. I find them, but they are way too expensive.

I bought this 20 years ago like I mentioned. Brand new and I gave it the layered look. For the large size price wasn’t bad

Cindy, I love how your corbel turned out! I have two laying around here and I ought to do something similar. I think I found both at HomeGoods in different years. 🙂 Last fall (maybe two falls ago now) I chalk painted a little table with six layers of paint and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Last year I made candlesticks with layers of ASCP. Great paint!!!
Enjoy your corbel and creating lovely vignettes with it,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
