Spring is Springing

Who’s happy April has arrived!

Many things have been going on at Cloches and Lavender.

I have been working on some painting projects.  A project I started for our bedroom is taking longer than I anticipated.  I’m sure that happens to us all.

The piece  I designed will be over my dresser.  My first painting attempt didn’t please me.  I added gilding wax and wasn’t pleased with color of the or the colors of chalk paint I chose.

A little tease of a piece I already finished and repainted.

Wanting this to be a statement piece it also needed to be made larger.  Not wanting to start from square one my trustee handyman hubby John, came up with a solution to make it larger.

I will show the finished piece soon.  Waiting for appliques to arrive.  All the base work is finished.  I will do a wash of paint, waxing and a bit of gilding and it should be complete.  Stay tuned.

With it sort of feeling like spring here and there I have been putting spring touches around the house.

Limelights dried in the fall.  Aren’t they beautiful?

This  year I am planning to dry as many as possible.

We will be planting Violas on the porch and I will put together a basket for the front door, I will share soon.  I look forward to Violas, they are petite and add much needed color for early spring.

A small vignette I put together using a small cast iron French urn with antique French books and vintage pots I have had for years.  Aren’t these carnations a beautiful color?

Hope you are getting ready for spring where you live too!
