Christmas is only three weeks away, it goes by so fast.  This time of year is my favorite and sometimes I wish I was able to slow it down.

Since it goes by so quickly I think that’s one of the reasons I am beginning to decorate sooner.  Not to rush the seasons it’s so I have longer time to enjoy the beauty.

I apologize if this picture is a bit dim but we have been having cloudy days and this is real life for the moment.

I’m very fortunate that my girlfriend Audrey knows how much I enjoy decorating.  I have wanted a few antique and vintage pieces in this home to bring in French touches.  Audrey enjoys decorating as well.  She gives me Etsy gift cards for Christmas and my birthday.  When I find what I have been looking for I’m able to make the purchase.

The French crate shown in these photos was another one of the pieces I was waiting to snap up.  It adds French and rustic to our décor and when I visited Edith and Evelyn HERE, I knew it was coming home.

As I said in my previous post HERE, I have had many of my bottle brush trees for a few years.  I move items around every Christmas .  This year I filled this crate with greens I already had and added champagne pine cones and a tree to a vintage piece of copper piece that has a footed bottom.  You will see that detail as I use this piece for other vignettes.

This tree I have had for 15 years and looks as good as the day it was purchased and is faux cedar.  I added a basket that was a bargain from Hobby Lobby .  I purchased a few baskets 50% off this year to add more texture in our home.

Loving the simplicity of this vignette.  This is the same antique piece I used for the fall and have had all these pieces for years.  Love the bit of whimsy the little crown adds along with the preserved cedar and my doorknob tree.

The piece above is from a French wine crate John received from a restaurant he eats at for lunch.  He mentioned I was looking for some and they gave him a few, best part, free.  I asked him to take them apart so I could use them for many things.  He did and he put on mineral oil and since they’re not stained I plan on using them for decorating and cheeseboards.

These finials have been around for years.  The final with blue is an antique from South Carolina that was a gift.

These little ornaments are from an old glass tree I had that broke when we moved here.  Amazing, tree broke and not the glass ornaments .  I like to use pieces I have from family so I used my grandmother’s silver sugar bowl and I think these little gems add a cute touch.

Now, to the cookies, I made these over the weekend .  I found pistachio pudding cookies on Pinterest and wanted to make my own version.  I decided to add macadamia nuts that I toasted in the oven first.  I do this with all nuts I use for cooking, baking and salads.  This enhances the flavor of the nuts.

Also, I added Ghirardelli white chocolate chips.  They are a bit more expensive but so worth the money.  They are real white chocolate unlike other brands, to me that makes a big difference.  Recipe at the end of this post.

The board you see them displayed on was another freebie from the same restaurant .  They gave me two and I use them often for making homemade flatbreads with many different toppings.

Recipe

Pistachio Cookies

Ingredients:

1 (1lb. 1.5 ounce) pouch Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
1 box (4 serving size) pistachio instant pudding and pie filling mix
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
½ cup dry roasted salted macadamia nuts, quartered (toast 400 degrees just until brown)
½ cup Ghirardelli white chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl using a wire whisk add cookie mix, pudding, and flour. Add melted butter and eggs and stir until incorporated with a wooden spoon
Add macadamia nuts and chips, mix well.
Drop by a rounded teaspoon onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. I use a small size cookie scoop looks like an ice cream scoop
Bake for 8-10 minutes
Let cool on cookie sheet 2 minutes
Cool on a wire rack.
Store in an airtight container
