The heat is still intense in NJ. Peanut and Reeses aren’t happy, way to hot for play time.
Me talking to my Princess Peanut. In the heat she wants nothing to do with doing her business, know what I mean?
We are starting to get moving on things in my office. There are many larger projects that need to be done.
I have BIG plans for this armoire. I am going to try to Frenchify this as much as possible. I think I just made up a word, maybe we should notify Webster’s, ha, ha. I can’t wait to get going on these very soon.
As you may notice, this was from my American country days, remember the 90’s?
A corner of my desk. Notice we haven’t taken the feet out from underneath yet?
Sorry back to my project.
It may seem odd to some I am making a piece for my office wall and the furniture isn’t finished. When my office is finished it will make sense. Remember, you aren’t seeing much.
Since it is difficult for us to go out to the farmlands so to speak for reclaimed wood, I had John, my HANDYMAN, purchase this from Home Depot.
He took his planer removing wood off the edges to add character. Followed by staining it Dark Walnut.
I watered down ASCP Old Ochre and brushed it on until I achieved a smooth coat.
No steady hands in this household for free hand French script. So what to do, buy the next best thing, a stencil. I have used stencils from Royal Design for years, they never disappoint.
My goal, make sure the words flow, so yes John helped again, gotta love HIM! He figured out how to line it up and using black craft paint I stenciled away.
When I noticed there would be a break between each verse, I grabbed another stencil I had and adding it in between.
I wanted some contrast, hint some of these colors will be used on the furniture, however, I CAN’T tell you, I don’t want to spoil things.
The fun of this project, it didn’t take long. It was fun watching the different steps.
Once the stencil was finished I went over the board with a sanding sponge for it not to appear perfect.
Next, I added a very light coat of dark wax here and there to add an aged look.
Here she is hanging on my wall. What do you think? I think she is pretty!
Here is a peek at my apothecary chest. A super up cycle in the works. One last step to do on this piece.
Have a SUPER start to your week!

Hi Cindy,
Love seeing little Peanut with squinty eyes in the sun. You need some doggie sunglasses. It started to cool down here this week end in Illinois so maybe some of that will come your way. I cannot wait to see what you do with that armoire. The reclaimed wood is intriguing. I cannot wait to see the final reveal.

Thanks so much for your sweet visit…don’t know if you realize you’re a “no reply” commenter, so I can’t respond to your comments. So glad you’re happy with the iron piece.

I remember the 90’s well. Lots and lots of flowers and ‘country’. What were we thinking? lol
