Hello everyone, I hope all is well. We are getting more snow for tomorrow in NJ and then it is going to turn colder again. I know that many of you have been getting hit so hard with the weather, I feel guilty complaining, but ENOUGH!!! The older I get 48, the less I like the cold and that wind that just goes right through your bones.
I am very behind in answering emails. I apologize but there has been a lot of decision-making and Audrey’s dog Wolfgang has been very sick. He is 16, 17 in July and has heart and liver failure. He is such a fighter, he keeps doing all he can to stay with us. There is no way I won’t make that a priority. Besides loving Audrey her dogs are like my babies. We have known her two pups since they were brought home and Wolfie as we call him, is just a lover.
Now for the excitement. Well, we have all our windows in except for two which are on backorder. The grilles that snap in are in the house in boxes. I am not sure at what phase they are snapped in place.
This is a shot of our front door which will be stained walnut to match the garage door, it is a two car garage with one large door.
They are getting ready to pour our basement and garage floor. That will be good and may make it easier to get in the house for me.
The other exciting piece of information is that I picked out our kitchen!!! Appliances are ordered and I think we got a great deal. We just placed our order for the cabinets and the countertops. Sample is below, the are Maple and the door is inset.
We are going to meet with the plumbing supply company as soon as the man we are supposed to me with is better from being sick. Our builder, Gerry, really wants to get moving on roughing out the house. I will give you a sneak peek at our kitchen faucet I chose. I wanted to go with a single handle so it would be easier to regulate the water when washing things in the sink and speaking of sinks, I chose a beautiful farmhouse sink. Fergusson had a great price for a Kohler on their website for a Kohler. If the plumbing supply person can’t match the prices the internet will be my source.
Everyone in these cold areas stay warm and safe. More updates will come.
Very cool….love the look and I really like the door you picked out Cynthia! we just found out that they will break through our existing kitchen & new kitchen addition on March 3rd! so very excited about that…wanted to let you know that you might want to check out a couple of other places to get your faucet from….try Home Click, Faucet Direct and Vintage Tub & Bath….they were a lot less than Fergusson for my sink and faucets ~ maybe not for yours….but you might want to check into it 🙂
Stay warm for the next chill that is coming to us all!!

Thanks for the sites and it is funny we checked those exact one out, well I did. If the plumbing supply man can’t come in at their prices we are going with them. The sink size that we want Fergusson was the cheapest. It is a very large sink. How exciting for you to have a date for your place. Can’t wait t o see and here some news!!!!
LikeLike
lol!! well, i hope he comes in cheaper for your sake…that would be lovely 🙂 Ours is a 36″ sink ~ seems prices changed between the sites! It’s freeeeezing here today….brace yourselves…the next storm is coming your way!

Ours will be 36″ too. We are waiting for all of the prices now. If they don’t come in where we want we are doing it on the internet without a doubt. I am so sick of this weather. Our home is now on hold because they can’t pour concrete if it isn’t above 30. We are very bummed. Mother Nature is not our friend right now at all!!!!

This is so exciting to see the house this far along. I bet you are getting so excited now that you are getting to pick out cabinets and hardware and counters etc. Sorry to hear about Audrey’s doggie. They are like our family I hope he can hang in there and not suffer. Poor guy.

Thanks so much Kris and we are having a lot of fun. The hardware for the cabinets are a decision I still have to make. There is so much out there but I have time. We are all upset over Wolfie. He is so alert and with it and that makes it harder. The doctor says with his numbers where they are he shouldn’t be doing this well.

Wow! Look at all those gorgeous windows! The light is just going to be streaming everywhere into your new home. No wonder you’re excited! I love the rich timeless finish and door relief you picked out for your kitchen cabinets. I picked out the same faucet as you for my new kitchen, only in stainless! Get ready to LOVE it! On a sad note, I’m so sorry to hear of Wolfgang’s illness. It’s an incredibly difficult stage in our beloved pet’s lives.

Laurel Thanks so much for your kindness and friendship. Good news about the faucet. Wolfgang is holding his own, he is in no pain and quite spunky at times. The vet is amazed. He is eating baby food now. Audrey is trying to get him to eat his special food but it didn’t happen today. Hope he keeps hanging on, he is a lover.

Ohhhhhhhh! You are so lucky! I wish I could build from scratch, but I doubt that will ever happen.
Your cabinet doors are the same ones that we have at the cabin, only ours are hickory. And yes, definitely a single handle faucet. I didn’t even know they made any other kind. 😉

I actually looked at a different one from Moen and it had two handles and my husband said, “What are you thinking?” I thought it was so pretty but he was right a single handle for the kitchen is the way to go not to mention that one was much more money.

It’s funny you mentioned the weather. We are now at a stand still because of the weather. It is so cold they can’t pour the basement floor or garage floor until it is 30. It doesn’t look like that is happening next week either it is going to be in the 20’s. We aren’t to happy at the moment. Thanks for your kindness Kathy.

Hey there! I was watching the 5:30 world news this evening and saw how the NE is getting slammed with cold, snowy, ugly weather. I really feel for you guys. It’s super, super cold here (wind chills in the minus teens and 20s), but at least we’re not stuck with all that snow. I think we’ve had just 3 snowfalls that required shoveling this season so far. I hope that’s it…although I seriously doubt it!
I’m so happy for you guys that the house is coming along so nicely!!! You have every right to be excited!!!
Stay safe, stay warm, and think happy thoughts! Have a great week!

Thanks Alycia, we need Mother Nature to starting cooperating. It is so cold they can’t pour our basement floor. We need it to be at least 30 for them to do that so they can move forward. I looked ahead to next week and it seems like it is going to continue to be very cold. UGH!!!

We are waiting for Mother Nature to behave before we can pour the basement and garage floor. The builder spoke to me yesterday and told me they can’t do anything until that is finished. We are going to lose all of next week because it will still be so cold.
Wolfgang is holding his own. He is in no pain at all. He is eating baby food right now. The vet said he can’t believe how ell he is doing with his numbers so bad. He actually tries to play with the babies as we all call them.

We are at a standstill with the weather. It has to be above 30 to pour the basement and garage floors. They need the stairs to continue. I have had it with this winter. Wolfgang is not in pain and is quite perky. The vet can’t believe it. I pray for him every day.

Hi Poppy, thanks so much for your kind words. The house was moving full force but the weather made it very slow now with the cold and the continuation of snow. His kidney failure is progressing. It breaks our hearts and so sad for my girlfriend. I am so glad we are here for her. Here is where I ordered the jars from
