Hello everyone, I am still here and hope all is well. We had a nice Thanksgiving and hope you did as well.
I have noticed that many of you have been decorating for Christmas, which is right around the corner; time does fly. I am missing all the glitter and decorations being all over the house this year. Call me crazy, but to me that is what Christmas is all about. My husband and I sort of enjoy getting all our stuff out and blasting the Christmas music. I have been collecting ideas for the new house for our first Christmas already, but now is the time to do it; so I am ready for projects to get started next year.
Now on to the update, framing has started on the house. It is getting more exciting now that we see things coming together. They seem to be moving quickly and that makes us happy.
When John and I started this process he promised me I wouldn’t miss a thing and he sure has come through. As many of you know I have MS and walk with a cane and I figured I would miss all the beginning stuff, John said no way.
Wen we got to the lot and I saw all the mud, I said there is no way and John said I will hold your arm and we will get there, promise. We walked to the house and he found a bucket and turned it upside down and picked me up so I was able to shimmy on my butt to get in the “front door”. Our new neighbors must think we are nuts but you have to do what you have to do, right!!
Once inside it was great seeing openings for closets, the rooms in their shape, a place for the fireplace, etc. I knew we were going to have many windows but seeing all of them made me so happy. In our old house we had tons of light and I wanted that again.
Believe it or not when walking through the rooms I was talking about where I would place some furniture, it is so fun to visualize this for real now. I am giddy just typing this because it took so long to get to this point.
It was also nice to see the yard for our two babies, Peanut and Reeses. Knowing they will have a place to run and be safe and be able to play with Daddy outside was exciting.
Our builder has been such a great help in questions we bring up and with suggestions already. He really is a nice man and we feel lucky that we have him to build our new home. If we have a concern we know we can just call him right up and he will have an answer.
Here’s a few of the progress photos from the last week or two…and we hope by the end of this week we’ll have the attic and roof boards on as well as the side walls. Then it will be on to roof shingles and windows after that!
