Hi everyone I hope all is well!
My girlfriend asked me to do some ceiling medallions for her home as she is getting rooms repainted; she liked the ones I did for my house. I started on the first one this week.
Initially I painted them with a base coat that matches the moldings in the house (the red solo cup makes a great way to keep them elevated while I work LOL). Once that dries, I do a second coat, which is the first coat of the fauxing process. This I do using raw umber glaze making sure I get good coverage on the detail areas. Finally I add a final coat that adds depth and age to the piece, being sure to get a good amount on the small details for shadowing. Overall it takes about two days for each one.
I have about four left to do, so it will be another couple of days of ceiling medallion work this week.
