When John and I built our home, we knew we wanted a very traditional center hall design with both a formal, yet comfortable living room on one side and dining room on the other. That enabled us to have a large open foyer with a very high ceiling.
We’ve had several style transitions over the past 17 years here and I love our most recent design. We incorporated various purchased, found, sentimental and home-made items that all blend to make me happy when I enter in there.
We started with an Italian village scene print (very calming and warm colors) and settled a nicely finished Bombay chest underneath. On the chest we incorporated a large European crafted bowl along with a lamp and candle. The pillar with the candle on it, I got from www.Elizabethsembellishements.com it is a great site if you like European/French items. I also got some of my Cloches there, which you will notice on one of the accent tables located near the entry door, along with my bronzed baby shoe filled with little roses that my Stepmom had made for me.
The accent tables started as basic unfinished pieces that I refinished. I think the rug in the foyer makes a statement of elegance along with the chandelier, accented with my medallion that I finished in a soft bronze finish.
Over the entry door I have my hand-made plaque that I will discuss in the near future.
And…the entry view…
Oh my, what a fabulous foyer. I love it. Your chest and the picture are stunning. Hugs, Marty
